John Chan a.k.a Tender Foot
John Chan a.k.a ‘Feather Foot’ is a licensed Nature Guide under the Ministry of Tourism Malaysia and is based in Kuala Lumpur. Prior to that, John graduated from University of Malaya in Biology and started teaching secondary school and A-Level Biology.
He grew restless from being indoors and soon dabbled in nature guiding work. This proved to be of great success, as John found nature guiding a perfect complement which combines his passion for the outdoors and Biology at the same time. He has been organizing eco trips around Malaysia ever since. He also works very closely with local and native communities in Malaysia to promote their arts, culture and handicrafts as well as the environment in which they call home.
As an advocate of conservation and sustainable living, John is often invited to give interpretative talks on Malaysian rainforest, introduction to flora and fauna of Malaysia, conservation issues, green living and the environment.
John is also an active member of Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) Nature Guides Group which he led and coordinated its activities in 2008. He is committed to safeguarding Malaysia’s natural resources and unique wildlife for all Malaysians.
